Westech's Air/Fuel Ratio Monitor Kit

Our Air/Fuel monitor is a precision instrument to help the performance enthusiast with jetting problems that occur when changes are made to an engine or to increase performance. Exhaust system changes, jetting changes even air filter changes will all have a measured effect on the a/f ratios of an engine.

Until motorcycle dynos are installed in 200 mph wind tunnels (and made available to the public) we believe that this is the only way to accurately measure a/f ratios on a ram-air bike. Also known as an exhaust gas oxygen sensor, these devices have been in use for over fifteen years in the automotive field and are installed in every new automobile sold in the USA. This kit is composed of a gas sensor with mount, a monitor and instructions with tuning tips.

The sensor is to be mounted in the exhaust stream and will give a varying output based on the oxygen content of the burnt gases. The monitor is composed of a linear electronic driver and a ten segment LED mounted in a 2" gauge housing.

Weight of the monitor is only 2 ounces. There are no moving parts and the monitor is treated to a water resistant sealant. Each segment of the LED relates to a specific a/f ratio. By reading the monitor you will be able to tell if that flat spot in acceleration is caused by a rich or a lean mixture. if you install a different exhaust system you will be able to tell whether you need to adjust the fuel delivery and by how much (and which direction, rich or lean).

The sensor mount must be brazed or welded to the exhaust. The rest of the installation can be handled by most weekend mechanics in less than one hour.

Our monitor will work on carbureted, fuel injected, turbocharged, or supercharged engines using gasoline, propane, nitrous oxide, or alcohol. The response time for the oxygen sensor is .1 sec @ 350° c but only .05 sec @ 800° c. By adding the A/F monitor to your motorcycle you will know exactly which way to adjust your jetting for best performance.
